About the Journal
VFAST Transactions on Islamic Research
VFAST Transactions on Islamic Research (VTIR) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by the VFAST Research Platform. Established in 2013, the journal serves as an academic forum for high-quality research on Islam, Islamic thought, and the Muslim world, with particular emphasis on the intellectual, spiritual, social, legal, historical, and cultural dimensions of Islamic civilization. The journal is committed to fostering scholarly engagement between classical Islamic scholarship and contemporary academic discourse through rigorous, interdisciplinary research.
Since its foundation, VTIR has provided a platform for scholarly contributions in three languages—English, Urdu, and Arabic—reflecting its commitment to accessibility and inclusivity across diverse academic and linguistic traditions within the broader Muslim scholarly community. This multilingual framework played a significant role in promoting regional and international scholarship during the journal’s formative and developmental phases.
However, in line with evolving international academic standards, global indexing requirements, and the journal’s strategic commitment to enhancing scholarly visibility and broader international reach, VTIR has formally revised its language policy. Effective from the 2026 publication cycle onward, all manuscripts submitted to VFAST Transactions on Islamic Research must be written exclusively in English. This revised English-only policy is intended to strengthen the journal’s global academic integration, improve accessibility for international readership, standardize editorial processes, and align VTIR with internationally recognized publishing frameworks.
Under this revised policy, Arabic text may be used only for primary Islamic source citations such as Qur’anic verses, Hadith texts, or essential classical references where academically necessary, while all titles, abstracts, keywords, discussions, analyses, and full manuscript content must be presented in English. Full Urdu and Arabic manuscript submissions, previously accepted under the journal’s earlier multilingual framework, will no longer be considered for publication from 2026 onward.
Initially published as a quarterly journal (January–March, April–June, July–September, and October–December), VTIR continued this four-issue annual structure until 2022. Beginning in 2023, the journal adopted a biannual publication model to further strengthen editorial quality, peer-review rigor, and research impact through the publication of two carefully curated issues per year.
VTIR welcomes contributions from scholars across the Islamic world and beyond, encouraging original research that critically examines both classical and contemporary dimensions of Islamic studies. Through its revised editorial and linguistic policies, the journal aspires to position itself more prominently within the international scholarly landscape while preserving the methodological integrity and intellectual richness of Islamic research traditions.
