Causes of Divorce and its Prevention in District Malakand
Abstract
Attaining in most happiness by the way of NIKAH is conditional to good marital relationships. Lacking mutual love, affection and understanding in marital life lead to difficulties and arduous lives of wives and husbands. Making humans responsible for each other’s rights and bounding them to live within the limits of divine decrees are the beauties of Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) says, “Divorce is a hatred act among lawful and legitimate acts”. Therefore, it must be avoided by individuals so as to minimize the ratio of divorce in our society. There are many causes of divorces in our society like lack of proper religious education and guidance, family and domestic disputes, complex judicial system, exchange marriages, negative role of media, adverse effects of cellular phones, improper usage of internet, excessive use of social media, second marriage, undue obedience of parents, dowry, drug addiction and such other. This article not only indicates the significant causes of divorce in District Malakand but also describes details of its prevention. There is a high hope of reduction in the rate of divorce, if corrective measures of the root causes are taken. The study is based on primary data collected through interviews in District Malakand.
