Modern Methods in the Teaching of Islamic Studies: Analytical Study in the Light of Prophet’s (PBUH) Seerah
Abstract
In this paper, the effectiveness of Activity-Based and demonstrative teaching methods for the compulsory subjects of Islamic studies has been investigated. The research was triggered by observing unsatisfactory learning outcomes of traditional teaching methods being used to teach the compulsory subject of Islamic studies at the primary level. According to the nature of study, the experimental research method was applied to evaluate the effectiveness of activity Based teaching and demonstration method. The researcher designed a role-play activity for the students of primary level, which was carried out in a School. The activity was based on two steps (Pre-test and Post-test). The results obtained from the pre and post-test established that Demonstration and ABT were enormously effective as they remarkably improved the students' “Knowledge, concepts and skills as well as developed their learning attitude, interest and confidence. The research, therefore, recommends that mentioned methods should be applied to teach Islamic studies at the Primary level in order to gain conceptual clarity, accomplish Islamic goals and develop Islamic values. Using these methods will provide an opportunity for students to attain sound knowledge, conceptual clarity, and self-belief and provoke interest in their religion. The analytical Study has been adopted as research methodology in this paper to reach the conclusion.
