This qualitative research paper explores the recreational opportunities for children and youth with special needs in the parks of the province of Punjab. The study also unfolds the need and benefit of recreational parks following accessible park standards to cater to the diverse needs of individuals with disabilities. Semi-structured interviews were conducted for data collection from the purposively selected stakeholders. Thematic analysis was employed. Findings revealed that the cognitive, social, and emotional development of children and youth with disabilities is hindered due to a shortage of parks and recreational opportunities within and outside the educational institutions. It is recommended that the Punjab government may take it as a serious concern and strive to establish disability-friendly accessible parks following the international park standards. The leisure needs and requirements of the large disabled population should be addressed by the concerned authorities on a priority basis.
