Reforms in Education Sector and their Effects on Teachers’ Job Attitudes

This study intends to explore reforms in education sector and their effects on teachers’ job attitudes in Southern Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at elementary and secondary level. The topic of the study was “Reforms in Education Sector and their Effects on Teachers’ Job Attitudes”. The purpose of the study was to identify the effect of education sector reforms in southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and their effects on the job attitudes of the teachers as well as on the internal environment of the schools. Hypotheses to be tested were; these reforms have no significant effect on teachers’ job attitudes as well as on internal environment of the schools, no significant difference exists in the attitudes of male and female as well as rural and urban teachers. This research study was quantitative in nature and methodology of the study was descriptive. Self made questionnaire consisting of five point Likert scale was used for data collection. All male and female teachers (6660) in the elementary and secondary schools of southern districts namely Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan and Tank constituted population. Findings showed that these reforms have positive effect on teachers’ job attitudes and on the internal environment of the schools. Findings also showed that significant difference was found in attitudes of rural and urban teachers. Attitudes of urban teachers were more positive, as their mean was greater. Significant difference was found in the attitudes of male and female teachers. Significant difference was found in the attitudes of rural and urban teachers as well as in the attitudes of male and female teachers. Based on the findings, following recommendations were made.
