About the Journal

The VFAST Transactions on Islamic Research is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by the VFAST Research Platform. Established in 2013, the journal is devoted to the advancement of quality research in the diverse and interdisciplinary field of Islamic Studies, providing an academic platform for scholarly inquiry into the religious, intellectual, historical, social, political, legal, and cultural dimensions of Islam and the Muslim world.

The journal’s scope encompasses a broad spectrum of specialized and interdisciplinary areas, including Qur’anic Studies, Hadith, Sufi Literature, Islamic Philosophy, Islamic Law, Early Islamic Historiography, Islamic History and Society, Islamic Thought and Literature, Islamic Origins, Islamic Politics, Islamic Banking and Economics, Islamic Society, Christians, Muslims, and Jews in Late Medieval Spain, Christian-Muslim Relations: Past, Present, and Future, Women and Islam, and Islam and Peace. Through this wide-ranging scholarly framework, the journal encourages critical engagement with both classical Islamic scholarship and contemporary academic perspectives.

Since its inception, the journal has served a diverse scholarly community through multilingual academic contributions in English, Urdu, and Arabic. However, in accordance with its revised editorial and publication policy effective from the 2026 issue onward, the journal now accepts manuscripts exclusively in English, except for essential primary source citations such as Qur’anic verses, Hadith texts, or necessary Arabic source materials where academically required.

The journal commenced its quarterly publication structure in 2021, publishing four issues annually across the following cycles: January–March, April–June, July–September, and October–December.
