Eating Disorder in Females during COVID-19 Pandemic
Abstract
The current study was designed to investigate the differences in patterns of eating disorders (ED) in females during COVID‐19 pandemic. The recent Western studies indicated demographic differences in ED in females during the pandemic, so the present study was conducted to fill this gap by studying the phenomena in Pakistani females. The cross sectional and survey research design was followed in this study. 104 females were recruited purposively to participate in the study by administering a questionnaire consisting of eating disorder scale and demographic sheet and informed consent. There were found a significant correlation between subscales of eating disorder scale. The married females were found to have more eating related concerns than single females. Moreover, the females studying in higher classes expressed more eating concerns than students of lower classes. The study concluded that demographics played a significant role in development of eating disorders in females. It was suggested that females should be provided with educational programs to curtail the occurrence of eating disorders.
